Does your special fantasy occasion include a carriage ride? The following carriage style, known as the "sociable" in England in the mid-1800's, was named "Vis-a-vis" by the French in the later 1800's. The white Cinderella-type carriage, pulled by Sonny and Cher, catches the attention of all guests and by-standers. In the event of inclement weather, the vis-à-vis has a retractable top to cover passengers in the rear seats.

The driver, fit in a driving tuxedo and top hat, is always prepared to assist with carriage etiquette. Classic Carriage’s goal is to personalize each event to meet the needs and dreams of the customer without compromising their safety. Classic Carriage is known for its creative and professional carriage services throughout the Shenandoah Valley.

From a 2007 bride and groom: "Sonny and Cher were so beautiful and well mannered at our outdoor wedding. The carriage and the horses were the most wonderful and appreciated addition to our special day."

There is an additional fee of $100 (a total of $550. See rate sheet) required to reserve the classic Surrey, which is another elegant way to arrive at your event using Classic Carriage. The two-seated Surrey has a natural wood finish and elegant pin-striping. The patent leather dashboard and fenders that grace the rear wheels are set off the top with fringe around the edges.

The Courtland Wagon Co. ( Courtland, NY) built the Surrey in 1889. Story has it that this carriage was originally owned by the J.C. Whitney family in Chicago. The Surrey was refurbished to showroom condition in 1989. This unit is in storage and special arrangements need to be made with Classic Carriage well in advance to rent the Surrey.
